IPC uses Agilis's EasyLicenser License Manager to license its MAXaccess 1000 and Nexus Suite and solutions. Each of these applications are written in Java, PHP and C++, and run on the RedHat Linux platform.
Mihir Parikh, IPC Product Manager, describes how IPC uses EasyLicenser: "For MAXaccess and Nexus Suite we offer site-based licenses, using EasyLicenser to configure the number of active channels and users enabled per site, and to lock each installation using Agilis's Fuzzy Fingerprinting technology. We also take advantage of EasyLicenser's nested-licensing capability to provide 'emergency keys' to our installation and support personnel. Our technicians are able to use assigned emergency keys at any time, up to five times on any one system, to turn on a 3-day license with all capabilities enabled. By doing this, they have the capability to immediately enable a temporary backup system while they resolve a primary system problem, or turn on a system for a new customer even before the production license key arrives." As Mihir explains, this emergency-key capability is important to IPC’s business: "Our customers rely on IPC's communication systems for their financial trading businesses, so we have to deliver very high availability. EasyLicenser's deferred node locking, deferred time-limited licensing and extensible, nested complex-licensing functionality enable us to meet all our licensing requirements."
IPC found the integration of EasyLicenser into its protected applications was straightforward. "Our developers said the EasyLicenser client APIs were easy to write code to," commented Matt Murphy, Development Tech Lead for IPC. "We had no issues with integration."
License keys are issued by IPC's Manufacturing Group. John Cosenza, Senior Manager, Manufacturing, describes IPC’s process as follows: "The Project Manager provides the customer license requirements based on the sales order and the system fingerprint to Manufacturing group. Manufacturing generates the required license key using the EasyLicenser desktop console and sends it to the Project Manager. Darlene Rivard, IPC’s Documentation Controller, adds that IPC also uses the EasyLicenser database for reporting, noting, "We export the license, product and customer data from EasyLicenser, then import it into Excel so we can generate management reports".

IPC continues to find ways to expand their use of EasyLicenser. Mihir Parikh revealed that IPC’s plans include offering single-system licenses as well as site licenses, and giving some of the regional branches the ability issue keys locally: "We've been using EasyLicenser for 3 years now, and continue to expand our use of its capabilities".
