Fremont, California, February 24th 2003. Agilis Software today announced the release of EasyLicenser version 1.1 (www.easylicenser.com), the native Java license manager that also protects C/C++ and VB6 products. EasyLicenser 1.1 provides tougher anti-piracy options, heightened security for the license management installation and faster integration with ISV’s programs. EasyLicenser 1.1 is a free upgrade for all current users, and requires no modifications to existing installations.
EasyLicenser’s new security features include an ‘anti-spoofing’ API, which employs a sophisticated combination of exception-based flow of control and a dynamic-handshake protocol to foil would-be hackers analyzing the call flow and parameter values in the binary code. The free evaluation download from Agilis Software includes sample code showing how dynamic API invocation can further increase protection for ISVs’ programs. EasyLicenser 1.1 also automatically protects against users’ attempts to defeat time-limited licenses by turning back the system clock. For the ISV’s license management system itself, EasyLicenser 1.1 includes audit access control and additional user name security.
A popular defense against software piracy is to ‘hard-lock’ the ISVs product to a specific machine. Popular techniques for hard-locking are now available as push-button options in EasyLicenser 1.1, while the extensibility mechanisms give sophisticated users a way to develop any protection scheme they wish. Additional data export formats and detailed application examples have been included based on feedback from existing users.
