Agilis Software today announced the Acropolis on-demand license hosting service for independent software vendors (ISVs) and hardware/software system vendors that use Agilis's Orion Network Licensing Platform to provide product activation and Internet-based floating licensing for their applications. ISVs can now speed product release, cut operations costs and ensure high availability without having to incur a learning curve or ongoing operational overhead for managing a hosted license server.

The Acropolis service is hosted at a Tier 1 datacenter for high availability and scalability, and provides ISVs with the complete range of Orion's capabilities. For an ISV that has acquired an Orion product license, the service includes all necessary hardware, software, network connectivity, and system management infrastructure. ISVs can log in to the Orion server from any web browser, or use Orion's industry-standard Web Services interface to integrate Orion with their back-office systems for automated order fulfillment, reporting, auditing and business intelligence functions. If allowed by the ISV, their resellers and end-customers can also log in to run reports, perform audits and check on the status of their licenses.

By using Acropolis, rather than hosting Orion at their own datacenter, ISVs can shorten their product release timeline, reduce operations costs, ensure high availability and an optimized Orion configuration, readily scale capacity as their user base grows, and leverage Agilis's integration and operations services.

Pricing for the service starts at $25,000 per year excluding the Orion product license, and varies with the level of service and capacity requirements.
