| Agitar Software Selects the Orion License Activation Server to Manage Licenses for their Software Development Tools | ||
Fremont, California, September 7th 2004. Agilis Software today announced that Agitar Software has selected the Orion Activation Server from Agilis Software for secure internet-based licensing of their enterprise development software tools. Agitar is using Orion to offer automated activation and locking of trial and production licenses for their award-winning Agitator development test solutions. "We needed a secure licensing solution for our high-value Enterprise Developer Testing solutions that would support our needs and be easy to deploy in our customer base", said Kent Mitchell, Director of Product Management for Agitar. "After extensive research we concluded Orion internet-based technology was the sole solution that met our needs for flexibility, security, scalability and ease of deployment. Agilis is the only company to offer a modern internet-based licensing system that fits smoothly into our customers' varied network environments."The Orion License Activation Server allows developers to eliminate key distribution while license protecting native Java applications on any platform, C,C++ applications on Windows/Linux/HPUX/Solaris, or Visual Basic/Visual Basic .NET/C# applications on Windows. Agilis also publishes the Orion communication protocol, permitting vendors and third party developers to develop their own core Orion client libraries or perform direct "to-the-wire" integration of their applications in any language on any platform. Upon activation the application can optionally be locked to any chosen features of the target system, eliminating risks of piracy. Users can relocate their license to a new machine with no administration required from the developer, and no reduction in security. The Orion Activation Server also readily supports new licensing models including subscription licensing, usage-based licensing, and software leasing.
