| Orion License Management Server Platform Announced: A Single Licensing Solution for all Software Developers' Needs | ||
Fremont, California, September 23rd 2004. Agilis Software today announced availability of the Orion License Server Platform for software developers. The Orion License Server Platform is a flexible, secure software licensing system that can protect applications written in any language, running on any computer platform. Orion is available in three configurations: as a Software License Activation Server, a Network License Server or a License Key Distribution Server. Orion is already in use at more than 20 companies in several countries, including The US Navy's Naval Surface Warfare Center, Kuma Reality Games, Zona Technology Inc., Agitar Software, SkyList, UXComm and FinLab SA. As a License Activation Server, Orion allows developers to remotely enable their applications within user-specific license limits, automatically lock their application to the target system using Orion's unique "fuzzy fingerprinting" capability, and activate on target systems whether or not users' systems have a network connection. There are no keys to distribute, and the user can securely relocate their license with zero administration on the part of the software developer. Each user's license is automatically configured as orders come in from the developer's CRM or order-processing system, or can be set up manually from any web browser. All activation and relocation records are available to the software developer in Orion's relational database. This configuration readily supports such pricing models as subscription licensing, OEM or reseller licensing, usage-based licensing, upgrade licensing, license leasing and revocation, and web services licensing.Traditional floating or concurrent licenses are managed by Orion configured as a Network License Server and installed on any Java-capable platform on the end-users' network. The software developer sets overall license limits, for example on number of concurrent users and functions enabled, and the user can then manage their own licenses within these overall constraints. Keys for any licensing system can be automatically distributed by Orion configured as a License Key Distribution Server. Users download their keys from a password-protected account in Orion, with automated configuration and loading of keys if required from the developers' CRM or order-processing systems.
